how about these starters? any of them better than the ones listed in Sleestak's post?

Ubaldo Jimenez
Nick Blackburn
Chan Ho Park
Jamie Moyer
Paul Maholm
Barry Zito (yes, Barry Zito; he's been almost roster-worthy lately, and he gets the Nats next at home)

for reference, Sleestak asked about
D. Bush
J. Guthrie
M. Buerhle
W. Rodriguez
H. Kuroda
S. Gallagher

if you could keep any of these guys for $5 in a 5x5 mixed league, are any of them keeper-worthy? keeper status probably more important at this point than the rest of this year, but the rest of this year still matters a bit. Thanks
Daver
Park was moved to the pen yesterday. Blackburn over Guthrie but otherwise I put your list below the other one. No one on either list excites me as a $5 keeper in a mixed league ... I'd say Wandy and Gallagher are the best shots (although longshots) to improve their value enough in the second half to make them keeper worth (again, extreme longshots).

that's what I was thinking; was hoping someone was more optimistic about Blackburn to give me an excuse to make a roster move, but it's looking like none of them are worth a $5 keeper spot, at least not with what we know about them so far

i am not a big blackburn fan. his strikeout rate isn't high enough for me. he has done well so far, but with a lower k rate, i think it is harder for him to consistently do well.

of all the "newer" guys on your list the only one i'd take a shot on is chan ho park.

he seems to thrive as a dodger starter and dodger stadium is a good park for him to pitch in. right now he seems to be slotted as a setup guy for broxton and might be in line for a few saves when broxton needs a rest, but if the dodgers get street and move broxton back to setup, suddenly park may find himself back in the rotation.

my original response had buerhle and bush at the top by themselves...i would rank park next if he returns to the rotation. park has been successful in the role this year and the dodgers seem to be playing better of late. losses are a factor here if i remember correctly

Looks like Park will be in the bullpen for now. Buerhle was nice tonight. Kuroda killed me in his last start and I won;t be trotting him out there in Denver. Unfortunately, Bush and Buerhle were taken since then. Only Wandy and his jagged home/away splits remains.

And since this is no longer my thread--heh heh--I will answer your question. I don' see any of these guys as $5 keepers, rather they are plug-ins for this season only.

Wandy has the potential I'd want, but Maholm's last 5 starts have been dominant. Just picked him up in my 16 team H2H league a couple days ago and dropped Greinke
