Full Version: Who to keep

I am trying to figure out who to keep going forward in my dynasty league. Dynasty means there are no limits, dollar values, or rounds associated with keeping a player. I keep everyone on my roster until I drop them or deal them.

My current roster is in my sig and some interesting FAs include:

Aaron Rowand
Juan Pierre
Joe Crede
Chris Duncan (currently on DL)
Kalil Greene (DL)
Aaron Hill (DL)
Travis Snider (waivers)
Josh Fields
Steven Pearce

Scot Shileds
Todd Jones
Rafael Betancourt
Joe Borowski
Rafael Soriano (DL)
Jon Meloan
John Smoltz (DL)
Pat Neshek (DL)
Jason Isringhausen (DL)

I don't plan on keeping Ayala and Cruz.

I consider the following guys my fringe guys (not sure if I should hang on to them or not)
Laird
Gutierrez
Torres
Francisco
Lindstrom
Bush
Snell
CJ Wilson

So between the fringe guys and the FAs, I am looking for the top 7 that will have an impact in 2009. I am thinking my list will go something like this:
1. Aaron Hill
2. Soloman Torres (maybe he'll be the 09 closer in MIL?)
3. Lindstrom (same as above but FLA?)
4. CJ Wilson (same as above - TEX)
5. Francisco (same as above - TEX)
6. Smoltz (will he even play in 09?)
7. Snider if I can get him - maybe Snell if not? Or Soriano?

Maybe I am speculating too much on saves when I should just take the best players?

As always, your opinions are appreciated.

If you're a couple years from winning, and not focused on winning this year, picking up Smoltz, Neshek, Soriano, Snider, Hill are decent adds. Dropping some of your RP - Ayala, Cruz, Brandon Morrow, Dave Bush and Gutierrez for them.

How deep is your league?

Its a 13 team league.
24 man rosters for most of the season
27 man rosters for Sept. and the offseason

I am in 3rd but don't have a realistic shot at 1st.
I think I can strongly challenge next season.

I still would pick up those guys I mentioned, although Morrow might be somewhat of a sleeper next year.

If you still want to keep this year, I'd also hold on to Bush
The Game
If you are out, I'd be dropping one of those speculative closers for Snider.... Snider's value will likely exceed any fringe closers.
