Full Version: Hackett over Hester this year?

I really like Hackett. He seems to be money when he plays, but his injury propensity and the fact that he'll be 3rd on the depth chart once Smitty returns worries me. IHe is a red-zone monster and I believe he could surpass Muhsin who is like 70 yrs old.

Also, I'm not really sold on Hester as a WR, but like his breakout potential, considering we get bonuses for long TD's and 100-yd days.

Hackett's on waivers until Sat morning. I've got a claim in to dump Hester right now (I've got first waiver selection, but they reset weekly based on standings). Should I maintain the claim, dump Rivers for Hackett, or hold off on D.J. (thinking that may be a mistake if he shines in a starting role this weekend).

P.S. I would dump Bradshaw in a heartbeat, but he is locked, since the GMen played on Thurs.

I'd drop Hester for Hackett. I agree about Hester and using Hackett right now while Smith is gone.

Personally, I'd hold onto Hester's big-play potential rather than the injury-prone Hackett. Seems like I'm the guy with the opposing opinion in football this year.

Here's to Hester and Rivers having a nice Week One.

Your league obviously does not give points for kick/punt return yardage, as does my league. Hester is money with KR/PR points in the equation. I sure do like that feature - it gives you high risks/high rewards, and I love cussing my players for fair catches and touchbacks - wusses.

If Muhsin is available (as he is in 3/4 of the leagues), now that he is back with Carolina, I expect much bigger numbers from Muhsin than he was with Chicago. ESPECIALLY since Steve Smith is out for two weeks and Hackett's toe may limit him. I would happily start Muhsin for weeks one and two, then see from there who else in the FA pool may be hot. I'm screamin if I'm not streamin.

As for Hackett himself, he has never put up big numbers, why would you expect that to change?

3 TDs and 2 100+ days in 6 '07 starts; 4 TDs and 1 100+ in 5 '06 starts.

Plus he rates high by the football outsiders' metrics, which I find to be the best objective evaluators of an individuals skills. If you've ever watched him play, he is a solid WR... (wait for it) when healthy. That is the rub.

And yeah, no return yds in this league.
