I'm going to start simple and just try to get a feel if there are ANY fans out there at all. I'm doing my best to promote the sport in America and I am convinced it will be more than mainstream (surpassing hockey and basketball) within the next 10 years.

Feel free to let me know what you follow (leagues), who you root for (players or teams), and where you're from.

Here's a short list of my favorite teams:
EPL - Tottenham Hotspur (gotta love how the Europeans name their teams biggrin.gif )
MLS - Los Angeles Galaxy (well before Beckham ever came here - now we're just on a constant world whoring tour)
Primera Liga - Barcelona

Favorite Players:
Lionel Messi (Barca)
Aaron Lennon (Spurs)
Cobi Jones (former Galaxy star)
Jozy Altidore (New York Red Bull)
Cesc Fabregas (Arsenal)
Gareth Bale (Spurs)
Lukas Podolski (Bayern Munich)

Don't follow soccer too much. I'll pay attention to Team USA when the competitions start up. I live about 40 minutes from where the Revolution play so I follow them a tad. I enjoy the World Cup and pay attention for that. On the whole, the international competition has too much flopping for me. My best friend is a huge soccer guy so I stay somewhat up to date.

I'm just happy that I got a response in here already. that's more than I got almost the entire time over at the old TMR boards! The World Cup is definitely the peak of soccer - every four years and the absolute TOP talent in the world. It's such a beautiful game to watch when it's played at the top level in top form.

The US team will still struggle in the next WC in my opinion but we sure do have some great up-and-coming talent. Watch out for Jozy Altidore, Benny Feilhaber, and Michael Bradley.

I don't follow soccer at all, but I caught several mens and womens World Cup games last time and enjoyed it. I agree that it is a beautiful game to watch. I live 25 min. outside Indy and all anyone wants to talk about around here are the Colts and how bad the Pacers suck. FWIW, I graduated from a large HS in '91 and we didn't have a soccer team back then but I think a few years later there were both girls and boys teams. So I guess soccer has slowly spread to central Indiana. But growing up in PHX, soccer was way big - heck the elementary schools had teams and leagues. I guess it all boils down to where you're at and what those people are talking about...

I don't follow soccer anymore since my move from Texas to Minnesota. I would like to start again but unfortunately, there's little no exposure to here but I think it has something to do with the really cold weather here. smile.gif

If you really wanted to get into it you could go to setantasports.com and purchase either their set-top box that works with your cable or get their online subscription (that's what I have) that shows a TON of EPL games, Champions League games, and UEFA Cup games.

besides being a fantasy addict i'm a premier (d2) u-15 boys coach in alabama. our only exposure is the fox soccer channel which is a godsend. my favorite player to watch is ronaldinho (sp?). i love to watch brazil (brasil) play and have modeled my boys team after their short passing game. we have 4 hispanic kids on our team and we've incorporated their "streetball" tactics into our game also. i was raised on american football and had to learn soccer after the fact.
